Per la prima volta un evento di ISOSHADO ha visto ospite un personaggio non incluso nella categoria degli attori e neppure dei registi; era da tempo che volevamo “catturare” i ricordi di qualcuno che avesse lavorato sul set di UFO ma “nell’ombra” e che, forse proprio per questo, fosse stato testimone di fatti, eventi e aneddoti mai raccontati da altri riguardanti la realizzazione della serie.
Robin McDonald, che per l’occasione era accompagnato dalla simpaticissima moglie Kathy, è corrisposto perfettamente alle nostre aspettative incuriosendo, stupendo e meravigliando la platea di ISOSHADO che ha avuto modo di assistere all’intervista e al commento egli ci ha consentito di filmare e che, ci auguriamo, saranno un giorno disponibili su DVD per gli iscritti all’Associazione, così come il materiale già filmato con tutti i precedenti ospiti, da Ed, a Mike, a Gito ecc….
Dopo una giornata composta da una visita turistica e breve shopping nel centro di Milano, abbiamo infatti potuto girare una lunga video-intervista nei locali messi gentilmente a disposizione dell’Associazione Culturale Aquifante di Raffaele Malerba a cui va, ancora una volta, il nostro sentito ringraziamento. Nel corso della registrazione Robin ha brillantemente risposto a oltre una quarantina di domande poste da Paolo Brandimarte, arricchendo il suo racconto con una serie incredibile di vivissimi ricordi di eventi, come già detto, del tutto ancora sconosciuti anche per noi che ci occupiamo della serie UFO da diversi decenni…
Dopo una piacevole cena a Sesto Calende, in prossimità del Lago Maggiore, con una parte dello Staff di ISOSHADO, Robin e Kathy hanno fatto rientro all’Hotel Pagoda di Legnano, luogo oramai simpaticamente noto a buona parte del Cast di UFO…
Il giorno seguente si è tenuto il pranzo ufficiale, nel corso del quale il nostro Ospite ha avuto modo di conoscere una delegazione di Soci ISOSHADO, ha accettato di posare con questi per foto ricordo, ha rilasciato autografi e non finire e, a seguire, dopo una breve pausa, ha accettato di girare un piacevolissimo video-commento al DVD dell’amica di ISOSHADO Nadia Faienza (oggetto “bonus” per i soci dell’anno 2008) arricchendo il filmato con i suoi interessantissimi commenti e con i ricordi che le immagini hanno in lui suscitato.
Anche Robin non ha mancato di visitare la sede di ISOSHADO dove, nella giornata di lunedì 21 maggio, ha potuto ammirare l’immenso archivio della nostra Associazione.
“Autoincensarsi proprio non si fa” (copyright 610), ma riteniamo che aver optato su Robin McDonald, Clapper Loader e Camera Assistant durante tutti i 26 episodi della serie UFO, sia stata sicuramente la scelta giusta, considerando il genere di interesse che ISOSHADO ha per la serie UFO e per la sua storia e realizzazione, e contiamo di averlo ancora ospite in futuro.

For the first time an ISOSHADO event hosted a UFO guest not included in the category of actors and even directors; we had long wanted to "capture" the memories of someone who worked on the UFO set background and who perhaps, because of this, witnessed facts, events and stories never told by others regarding the making of the series.
Robin McDonald, who was accompanied by the amiable wife Kathy, matched perfectly with our expectations, intriguing and suprising the audience that attended the interview and the commentary he allowed us to film -- and that we hope will be some day available on DVD for our Members, as for materials we recorded with all previous guests: Ed, Mike, Gito etc. ....
After a day of sightseeing and brief shopping in downtown Milan, we have been able to film a long video interview on the premises made available courtesy of the cultural association Aquifante by Raffaele Malerba, to whom once again go our thanks. During the recording, Robin successfully answered over forty questions asked by Paul Brandimarte, enriching his narrative with vivid memories of an incredible series of events and anecdotes, as already said, entirely unknown even to us who have been dealing with the UFO series for some decades...
After a pleasant dinner at Sesto Calende, near Lake Maggiore, with some ISOSHADO staff members, Robin and Kathy returned to Hotel Pagoda in Legnano, a place now affectionately known to most of the UFO cast...
The next day a luncheon was held, during which our Guest had the opportunity to meet a delegation of ISOSHADO Members; he also agreed to pose for souvenir photos and sign autographs. Later, after a brief break, we recorded a video commentary of the video-DVD made by ISOSHADO friend Nadia Faienza (which was also used as ISOSHADO membership bonus for 2008) enriching the UFO footage with his interesting comments and the memories that the sequences suggested him.
On Monday May 21, Robin visited the ISOSHADO “headquarter”, where he was able to admire our huge UFO archive.
We believe that our choice of inviting Robin McDonald, Clapper Loader and Camera Assistant during all 26 episodes of UFO, was definitely the right one, considering the kind of interest that ISOSHADO has in UFO, its history and making of, and we look forward to hosting Robin (and Kathy) again in the future.
