1 GLI STUDI BBC DI BOREHAMWOOD – NEPTUNE HOUSE, BBC ELSTREE STUDIOS, ELDON AVENUE, BOREHAMWOOD, HERTS

Dopo numerosi tentativi, abbiamo avuto il privilegio di accedere agli studi BBC di Borehamwood, all'interno dei quali si staglia la sagoma della Neptune House, quartier generale di S.H.A.D.O.
Nelle immagini seguenti si può notare la fontana all'ingresso dell'area (che ora è stata coperta da una costruzione prefabbricata); la guardiola dell'ingresso laterale dove transita l'auto di Straker che è rimasta invariata; la hall all'ingresso degli Studios dove dove entrano Straker e Freeman in IDENTIFIED (che ha subito alcune modifiche ma è facilmente riconoscibile); il "parcheggio personale" dell'auto di Straker, sotto la tettoia; l'area dove era posizionato il cartello Harlington-Straker Studios, sul quale era riflesso l'orologio della casa di fronte, che potete vedere nelle foto successive; il parcheggio principale dove sostavano le auto e le jeep della S.H.A.D.O.

After several attempts, we had the privilege of visiting the BBC Studios in Borehamwood, where the familiar shape of the Neptune House (S.H.A.D.O. HQ) can be seen.
In the following images you will notice the area where the fountain was originally located (the area has now been covered by a prefab building); the unchanged gatekeeper's lodge at the side entrance where Straker's car drives by; the building's hall where Straker and Freeman walk by in IDENTIFIED (which has undergone minor changes, but still is recognisable); the "reserved" parking place of Straker's car, under the roofing; the area where the Harlington-Straker Studios sign was put, where the clock on the opposite building reflected; the main parking lot where S.H.A.D.O. cars and jeeps used to park.

6 L’ALBERGO DELLA LUNA DI MIELE DI ED E MARY (CALEDONIAN HOTEL) IN “CONFETTI CHECK-A OK” – PARK INN HOTEL, 30-40 ST. ALBANS ROAD, WATFORD, HERTS

Eravamo stati diverse volte in questo albergo in occasione di vecchie convention di Fanderson; il look dell'hotel è decisamente cambiato, soprattutto la hall che nel 1992 era molto simile a come appare in UFO mentre ora è stata totalmente rivoluzionata.

We've been to this place several times during old Fanderson conventions; the hotel's look has definitely changed, mainly its hall which in 1992 was very similar as it appears in UFO while now, unfortunately, has totally changed.

7 LA PALESTRA DALLA QUALE FOSTER VIENE RAPITO DAGLI ALIENI IN "ORDEAL" – YORK HOUSE SCHOOL, REDHEATH, CROXLEY GREEN, RICKMANSWORTH, HERTS

E' stato come trovare un ago in un pagliaio, ma appena abbiamo visto il lungo viale ci sono subito tornate alla mente le immagini dell'auto di Foster mentre si avvicina alla palestra.

As they say, it was like finding a needle in a haystack, but as soon as we saw the long aisle we recalled Foster's car driving towards the training centre.

8 IL PIAZZALE DOVE ED SI FERMA PER CAMBIARSI LA DIVISA CON UN ABITO CIVILE IN “CONFETTI CHECK-A OK” – KITT’S END ROAD, KITT’S END, BARNET, HERTS

Questo luogo ci è ormai molto familiare, e anche Luciano si è cimentato in un balzo oltre staccionata, emulo di Straker!

This is a very familiar location to us, and also Luciano has engaged in a jump over the fence triying to emulate Straker!

10 IL COTTAGE DOVE ABITANO MARY E JOHN STRAKER/RUTHLAND E DOVE IL FIGLIO DI ED VIENE INVESTITO DA UN’AUTO IN "A QUESTION OF PRIORITIES" – MARLYN COTTAGE & ASHRIDGE FARM, LEY HILL, NEAR CHESHAM, BUCKS

Un altro ago nel pagliaio: il Marlyn Cottage è davvero difficile da individuare in quanto oggi la vegetazione della zona è decisamente più fitta rispetto al 1970.
Solo recandoci sul posto ci si rende conto dell'effettiva pericolosità dell'incrocio e si comprende perché si decise di girare la scena dell'incidente di Johnny in quella location.
Come si nota dalle foto recenti, il cottage è stato ampliato.

Another needle in the haystack: the Marlyn Cottage is really hard to find as trees and bushes in the area are thicker than in 1970.
Just being on site one figures out how hazardous is the road crossing and it becomes clear why it was decided to film Johnny's car accident sequence there.
As the recent images show, the original cottage has been enlarged.

11 IL CIMITERO DOVE E’ SEPOLTO IL MARITO DI LIZ NEWTON NELL’EPISODIO “THE SQUARE TRIANGLE” – HAREFIELD PARISH CHURCH, HAREFIELD, BUCKS

Tutto sommato, fare foto e filmati in un cimitero centenario non è più disdicevole che portarci a "pascolare" i cani - dei quali vi risparmiamo le foto...

Overall, taking pictures and videos in an old cemetery is as unbecoming as taking dogs for a walk there...

12 LA FARM HOUSE DELLA FAMIGLIA STONE IN “THE SOUND OF SILENCE” – STONE DEAN FARM, POTKILN LANE, JORDANS, NEAR CHALFONT COMMON, BUCKS

Dopo qualche ricerca abbiamo trovato la famosa fattoria di THE SOUND OF SILENCE; dobbiamo riconoscere che questo è uno dei luoghi che ha subito meno trasformazioni dal 1970 ad oggi, ed è stato davvero emozionante poterlo visitare.

After some search, we have found the famous farm of the episode THE SOUND OF SILENCE and we have to acknowledge that this is one of the UFO locations which has less changed since 1970, so it's been relly exciting to be able to visit it.

13 IL PONTE DAL QUALE CATHERINE FRASER GETTA IL MECCANISMO ALIENO NECESSARIO PER ATTIVARE LA BOMBA IN "THE LONG SLEEP" – CANAL BRIDGE 189, BENBOW WAY (o WAYE), COWLEY, GREATER LONDON

Per gli inglesi di passaggio, era alquanto bizzarro vedere un'auto con dei turisti italiani così interessati a questo ponticello. Una barca era persino ormeggiata nello stesso punto dove si trovava quella nella quale Catherine getta l'innesco della bomba aliena...

Residents walking by were puzzled at watching a tourist car with Italians so interested in this small bridge. A boat was even docked in the same place as the one in which Catherine throws the mechanism in THE LONG SLEEP.

14 IL FIENILE DELLA DROMENAGH FARM HOUSE (DEMOLITA POICHE’ ANDATA A FUOCO) DOVE TIM E CATHERINE INCONTRANO GLI ALIENI IN "THE LONG SLEEP" – THE COACH HOUSE, DROMENAGH FARM, SEVEN HILLS ROAD, IVER HEATH, BUCKS

Il fienile è stato ristrutturato ma la sagoma è molto simile a quella di allora. Per quanto riguarda la "fattoria" ci riserviamo di proporre un reportage approfondito in occasione del nostro prossimo viaggio.

The barn has been renovated but its shape is similar to the original one. As far as the "farm" we will make a complete report after of our next trip.

15 I PINEWOOD STUDIOS – PINEWOOD ROAD, IVER HEATH, BUCKS

Il posto è noto e, per alcuni di noi, davvero familiare: nonostante la sorveglianza sia ora molto più severa, ci è stato ancora possibile visitare numerose location all'interno degli Studi di Pinewood dove diversi episodi della serie furono realizzati.
Nelle foto potete notare:
- l'ingresso del "Double Lodge"
- il viale dell'ospedale di THE LONG SLEEP
- la Heatherden Hall, che ha ora riassunto la foggia dell'epoca, essendo stata demolita la Gatsby Suite che ne modificava l'aspetto frontale
- i viali del giardino ornamentale prospiciente la Heatherden Hall e il ponticello sul piccolo lago che appare in THE PSYCHOBOMBS
- i viali interni della parte industriale degli Studios che si vedono ripetutamente in TIMELASH e MINDBENDER
- l'ospedale di THE LONG SLEEP dove è ricoverata Catherine
- il muro dove era collocata la scala sulla quale Straker sale in TIMELASH
- alcune vedute interne e immagini nei pressi dell'ufficio di Gerry Anderson
- la guardiola del vecchio ingresso degli Studi, utilizzata in THE CAT WITH TEN LIVES come check point della base di lancio del Lunar Carrier.
L'ultima immagine, riprende dal parcheggio interno, il nuovo ingresso dei Pinewood Studios inaugurato recentemente.

The place is known already and for some of us very familiar: despite the severe security we have once again visited the various locations inside the Pinewood Studios where several UFO episodes were filmed.
In the photos you will notice:
- the "Double Lodge" entrance
- the hospital aisle of the THE LONG SLEEP episode
- the Heatherden Hall, which has now been brought back to its original shape, as the Gatsby Suite has been demolished
- the ornamental gardens' lanes in front of the Heatherden Hall and the small bridge as seen in THE PSYCHOBOMBS
- the internal lanes of the Studio's buildings which can be seen many times in TIMELASH and MINDBENDER
- Catherine's hospital in THE LONG SLEEP
- the red bricks wall where the ladder climbed by Straker in TIMELASH was once hanging
- some internal views close to Gerry Anderson's office
- the old Studio's gatekeepers lodge, which was filmed in THE CAT WITH TEN LIVES as check point of the Lunar Carrier launch base.
The last image features the new entrance of the Pinewood Studios, as photographed from the internal parking lot.

16 L’AREA DELL’ALBION (ORA DEMOLITO) OVVERO L’ABITAZIONE DI LINDA SIMMONS IN “PSYCHOBOMBS” – ALBION, COMMON ROAD, LANGLEY, SLOUGH, BERKS

Dopo aver speso una mezz'ora alla ricerca dell'ingresso esatto dell'Albion, ci è stato detto che due dei quattro palazzi presenti nell'area sono stati recentemente demoliti, e purtroppo tra questi anche l'Albion. Vi mostriamo quindi alcune foto delle costruzioni gemelle dell'Albion.

After spending some 30 minutes searching for the right entrance to the Albion building, we have been told that two of the four buildings of the area were recently demolished and, unfortunately, Albion was one of them. You will see here some photos of the surviving buildings.

Questa è la location dove vennero girate alcune sequenze di THE LONG SLEEP ma ora riconoscerle è abbastanza difficoltoso.

Here's a location where some sequences of THE LONG SLEEP were shot, but today it is rather difficult to recognise them.

20 BLACK PARK & BLACK PARK LAKE CHE APPAIONO IN NUMEROSI EPISODI DI UFO – IVER HEATH, BUCKS

Black Park e il lago non hanno certo bisogno di presentazione. Giusto per darvi un'idea, furono teatro di IDENTIFIED, COMPUTER AFFAIR, THE SOUND OF SILENCE, THE SQUARE TRIANGLE, REFLECTIONS IN THE WATER.

Black Park and its lake are well known. Just as a reminder they were used as locations for IDENTIFIED, COMPUTER AFFAIR, THE SOUND OF SILENCE, THE SQUARE TRIANGLE, REFLECTIONS IN THE WATER.
