UFO's "Eye"
Abbiamo il piacere di mostrarvi alcune immagini di uno dei due bellissimi "poster" che si trovano nell'ufficio del Comandante Straker.
Si tratta di due opere realizzate tra il 1967 e il 1969 dall'artista inglese Joe Tilson (classe 1928), che furono scelte dagli Anderson come moderno complemento d'arredo dei set di UFO e che fanno bella mostra di sé in molti episodi della serie:

La recente acquisizione di un multiplo originale di una delle due opere da parte di ISOSHADO ha permesso di appurare che esso è costruito su più livelli, quindi la definizione "poster", generalmente utilizzata per indicare l'Occhio o la Bocca, è impropria in quanto si tratta di opere composite.

We have the pleasure of showing you some pictures of one of the two wonderful "posters" in Ed Straker's office.
The two works were made by British (and R.A.) artist Joe Tilson (born 1928) between 1967 and 1969, and were chosen by the Andersons as modern items to be displayed on the UFO set and which can be noticed in many UFO episodes.
ISOSHADO's recent acquisition of one of the two works has made us aware that it was built on different layers: therefore it is not proper to define them as "posters" as we often call both the Lips and the Eye.
We also had the opportunity of meeting with artist Joe Tilson at Galleria Menhir in La Spezia (www.menhirarte.com), which is holding an exhibition of Tilson's recent works until the end of March 2006. Our warm thanks go to the Gallery for their kindness and support to ISOSHADO.

D. Una variante dell'opera che raffigura una bocca è stata recentemente usata per la copertina del catalogo di Art and the Sixties (Tate Gallery, Londra) ma appare diversa rispetto al "poster" di UFO: si tratta di un'evoluzione dell'originale?

Q. Those red lips are very popular and have recently been displayed on the cover of the Art and the Sixties catalogue (Tate Gallery, London). The work is slightly different than UFO's: was it an evolution of the original Lips?
