La DeepCon 4 di Fiuggi si è conclusa lo scorso 9 marzo e noi di ISOSHADO siamo lieti di offrire questo reportage fotografico che illustra i momenti salienti della Convention dove abbiamo garantito la presenza, in qualità di ospiti d'onore, del nostro Presidente Ed Bishop e del Vice Presidente Michael Billington che hanno partecipato insieme ad altri attori del cast di Star Trek.

Mike Billington e il figlio Michael junior sono arrivati a Milano giovedì 6 marzo ed il mattino seguente siamo partiti per Roma dove ci attendevano Ed Bishop e la simpatica moglie Jane che già si trovavano nella Capitale per un breve periodo di vacanza.
Da lì il viaggio è proseguito in direzione Fiuggi, dove siamo giunti venerdì 7, intorno alle 21,30.

Uno degli eventi principali della Deepcon 4 è stato senza dubbio il lancio dell'edizione italiana dei DVD di UFO, curata dalla CultMedia e distribuita dalla DNC; la prima parte della serie sarà disponibile a partire dalla seconda metà di aprile 2003.

Ed Bishop e Michael Billington sono stati coinvolti nelle molteplici attività previste dalla scaletta della manifestazione quali, ad esempio, la conferenza stampa per presentare i DVD, alcuni incontri specifici con i fan per domande e risposte sulla serie UFO e le sessioni per foto e autografi.

L'anteprima dei DVD ha suscitato grande interesse ed entusiasmo fra il pubblico di appassionati e giornalisti; la presenza del nostro Presidente e del Vice vi hanno naturalmente contribuito in larga misura. A turno i responsabili del progetto, dalla sua concezione alla distribuzione vera e propria, hanno preso la parola descrivendo quanto di loro competenza e non dimenticando di ringraziare calorosamente Ed, Mike e ISOSHADO per la nostra collaborazione e presenza all'evento. Alla presentazione ha fatto seguito la proiezione su grande schermo di un dettagliato filmato illustrativo riguardante i DVD, la loro realizzazione, le caratteristiche ed i contenuti speciali.

Per l'occasione, è stata allestita un' apprezzabile riproduzione della sala di controllo di Base Luna in scala 1:1 ed è stato quello, ovviamente, il set prescelto per le riprese delle interviste individuali sia a Ed che a Mike, nonché lo scenario prediletto da tutti per la sessione di fotografie con gli attori.

Il nostro Presidente e Vice sono anche stati coinvolti in un'attività direttamente connessa con la realizzazione del materiale incluso nel primo cofanetto dei DVD in versione "de luxe". Tale versione, infatti, comprende una speciale "card" numerata all'interno della quale è inserita una serie di fotogrammi tratti dagli episodi UFO. Ed e Mike hanno gentilmente autografato le card rendendo questa edizione dei DVD ancor di più un vero e proprio oggetto per collezionisti ed estimatori della serie UFO di Gerry Anderson.

Terminata la Convention, nel primo pomeriggio di domenica 9 abbiamo riaccompagnato Ed e Jane a Roma (il loro rientro a Londra era previsto per il martedì successivo) mentre Mike e Michael junior sono rimasti con noi in Italia fino a venerdì 14 marzo. Mike ha infatti approfittato di questi ulteriori giorni di permanenza in Italia sia per far fare al figlio Michael delle esperienze calcistiche mirate con alcune importanti squadre italiane sia per terminare di autografare le card numerate da collezione che saranno inserite nell'edizione de luxe dei DVD (nelle immagini potete vedere Mike nella sede di ISOSHADO impegnato ad autografare le ultime card rimanenti).

Visionando in anteprima i DVD, abbiamo riscontrato quanto materiale proveniente da ISOSHADO sia stato utilizzato e ciò è stato riconosciuto ampiamente dai produttori i quali hanno inserito nell'opera, oltre ai ringraziamenti a ISOSHADO, anche tutti i riferimenti specifici per contattarci ed eventualmente iscriversi alla nostra Associazione.

Questa edizione di UFO su DVD fornisce indubbiamente ad ISOSHADO lo strumento ideale per divulgare e promuovere la propria attività, ringraziamo quindi vivamente tutti coloro che, pubblicizzando questi DVD su Internet, forniscono direttamente o indirettamente un prezioso contributo alla nostra Associazione.

The DeepCon 4 has ended on last March 9 and we at ISOSHADO are happy to provide you with this photo reportage which shows the most relevant moments of the convention where we have granted the attendance of our President Ed Bishop and our VP Michael Billington, as special guest stars, together with some other Star Trek actors.

Mike Billington and his son Michael junior have reached Milan on March 6 and the morning after we've departed to Rome, where Ed Bishop and his lovely wife Jane were spending a short vacation period. From Rome we've then driven to Fiuggi, which we've reached on March 7 in the evening.

One of the main events of DeepCon 4 was for sure the Italian UFO DVD launch (produced by CultMedia and distributed by DNC); the first set of the series will be available in mid-April 2003. Ed Bishop and Michael Billington have been involved in the various activities included in the con's schedule such as the press conference for the DVD launch, some specific sessions with the fans for Q&As on UFO and some autograph and photo sessions.

The DVD preview has stirred up much interest and excitement among the audience of fans and journalists. The presence of our President and VP have for sure widely contributed to the success of the event.

The project leaders have explained the various phases of the DVD production, from their conception to distribution, and have warmly thanked Ed, Mike and ISOSHADO for our cooperation and attendance to the event.

The widescreen show of a detailed demo of the DVDs has followed. A remarkable reproduction of the control room of Moonbase (actual size) was also there, and this was, of course, the favourite set for the recording of individual interviews with Ed and Mike, as well as for photo sessions with the guest stars.

Our President and VP have also been involved in something strictly related with the materials included in the de luxe version of the DVDs. The first boxset, infact, will include a special numbered card which carries a series of film frames coming from the episodes. Ed and Mike have kindly autographed these cards, making this DVD edition a collectors' item for the real estimators of the TV series created by Gerry Anderson.

The con ended on Sunday afternoon, and we drove to Rome with Ed and Jane who then completed their short vacation period in Rome, while Mike and Michael junior have taken advantage of their stay in Italy until Friday March 14: Michael jnr has trained with some of the most important Italian soccer teams while Mike has signed all the remaining cards for the de- luxe boxset (some picts show Mike in the ISOSHADO loft autographing the last batch).

At the DVDs preview we have noticed how many materials supplied by ISOSHADO have been used, and that's been acknowledged by the producers who have added to the DVDs not only specific credits for ISOSHADO but also all contact details to reach us and to become members of our Association.

This UFO DVD edition is consequently a good vehicle for ISOSHADO to divulge and promote our activity: we therefore wish to thank all those who will provide a precious contribution to our Association by promoting and advertising these DVDs on the internet.
